The Swenson Swedish Immigration Research
Center at Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois is seeking
candidates for
the position of librarian/archivist. The Center is a leading
institution of
Swedish-American studies with an extensive and highly
specialized library and
archives supporting and promoting the study of Swedish
immigration to North
America.
The
librarian/archivist will oversee the daily operations of the
library and
archives at the Swenson Center, including long range planning,
collection
development, digitization and accessibility, support to scholars
and
researchers, and outreach programs.
The
successful candidate will have
1.
A solid professional background in the library and archives
world, preferably
an M.L.S. or M.A. from an allied field (archival administration,
museum
studies, or public history.)
2.
Near native fluency skills in Swedish and in English
3.
An interest in Swedish and/or Swedish-American culture and
history
