Ämne: [IFLA-L] Call for Papers -
Reference and Information Services Section - Milan 2009
World Library and Information Congress
IFLA Reference
and Information Services Section invites the submission of proposals for
papers to be presented at a two-hour session in
The Pro-Active Librarian: the how and the why
Subjects
of interest:
The How – here we are looking for papers
on the full range of information services underlining active involvement
between librarians and users.
Our subjects of interest are:
Marketing your reference and information
services
Being user-centred instead of
service-centred
Developing soft skills –
communication, empathy and comfort levels
Pushing out information via blogs, mobile
phone services, ‘embedded’ librarians
The Why – we want to look at, and try and
answer these questions:
What is gained when moving from the
physical desk to the virtual desk?
Do technical improvements lead to service
improvements?
Can the librarian act as a consultant and
catalyst for collaboration?
How can we monitor and improve the quality
of the different services?
