to participate at the Bielefeld 2000 Conference

Value added Gateways to Global Information
                        - Optimizing End-user Services -

Stadthalle Bielefeld, February 8 - 10, 2000

After four successful conferences the 5th European Bielefeld
Colloquium will be held now as the Bielefeld 2000 Conference in
February 2000.

Information supply via Internet is the main subject of the Bielefeld
2000 Conference: Qualified access to qualified information. We feature
papers from highly qualified experts and representatives from Europe
and North America. The programme is also available on our website:

There you can find in addition the on-line registration form.

The aim of the conference is not only to inform our participants about
the latest developments but, additionally, to prepare proposals for
new developments and to assess the future needs of the use of
electronic publications within and via libraries. The expected 600
participants will represent the German library community in addition
to a considerable number of delegates from other European countries.

The last conferences have shown that those experts are reached, who
are able to transfer experiences and ideas into practice within all
types of libraries, e. g. university, public and special libraries.

It is a tradition that the conference is organized by three partners:
The British Council (Cologne), the Buchhaendler-Vereinigung
(Frankfurt am Main), and the University of Bielefeld.

The conference is combined with an exhibition. Manufacturers and
distributors of information products and services, as well as
information technology and communi-cations suppliers and many other
representatives of the information industry will be represented. It
has proved to be one of the most important features of the Bielefeld
Conference to bring together the main players related to electronic
publishing and libraries.

The exhibition will cover current (electronic) publications,
information networking and gateway technologies to be used by
libraries and publishers. The exhibition will take place in the main
entrance hall of the Stadthalle Bielefeld, which will be used
frequently by every participant of the conference.

The conference will be held in the excellent facilities of the
Stadthalle Bielefeld, close to the main railway station and hotel
facilities in the city centre.

We are inviting all librarians interested in or already using any kind
of electronic publications as well as all publishers and booksellers
interested in the technology and distribution of electronic
publications in the library market.

To keep the travel budgets for participants as low as possible, we are
still able to manage this conference without registration fees. For
the participants of our conference we have inquired special conditions
for hotels of varying prices. There are several hotels situated in
walking distance of the congress centre. The tourist information will
take care of your hotel reservation.
