An international seminar on young people”s rights and needs to access information.

Organisers The seminar is being organised by UngInfo, Eskilstuna Municipal and County Library, Eskilstuna, Sweden, in co-operation with Kompassi, Helsinki, Finland and with assistance from other European partner countries.

Working Language The seminar working language will be English. The documentation for the seminar will be available in English.
Methodology The pedagogical methods used throughout the seminar will seek to encourage a
high level of participation, in order to facilitate the exchange of ideas, experience and philosophy. The workshops will be based on the contents of the plenary sessions each day
and should be seen as a discussion forum for smaller groups of participants.
These groups will be comprised of participants from diverse national and professional backgrounds. Workshop 1. Differences in practice between youth information workers and librarians around the issue of freedom of information and identifying needs for co-operation and exchange between youth information structures and libraries.
Workshop 2. Methods used to reach and involve groups of young people with a view to encourage youth independence.
Workshop 3. Methods used to access European information useful for young Europeans on the threshold of the year 2000.
European Crossroads. The seminar living room will allow participants to discuss, exchange ideas, demonstrate materials, videos, demos, etc. in an informal atmosphere. We invite all those attending the seminar to send us material in advance or to bring material with them.
