Themes and subthemes of the conference on which oral or poster presentations are invited:
a. Scientific communication: the change
electronic versus print formal vs informal communication public vs restricted access copyright, authorship, editorship, peer review
b. New roles and new services for information professionals:
intermediaries tailor-made services consultant-librarians cybrarians shared resources one-person library
c. The library without limits:
expanding information services telemedicine cooperation intranet integrated information management systems
d. Measuring success:
Evaluation and quality assurance library performance benchmarking management tools public relations
e. Empowering the end-user:
user education problem-based learning consumer & public health information distance learning
f. Evaluating information:
Internet resources collection development evidence-based medicine
g. Learning from the past:
history of medicine history and trends in medical and health librarianship
Proposals are invited for papers and posters related to the themes of the conference. Abstracts of not less than 200 and not more than 400 words in English (or French with an English translation) must be submitted before September 30, 1997 and must be accompanied by a short curriculum vitae of the first (and presenting) author.
