För att övervinna den djupa ekonomiska krisen och göra Europa till ett
ledande
informations- och kunskapssamhälle är ett av flaggskeppen det digitala
europeiska
biblioteket.
En kvarts miljard kronor satsas under 2009 till olika projekt. Här finns
stora möjligheter
för biblioteks-Sverige t att aktivt hjälpa till att skapa detta
samhälle.Det finns mycket
kompetens här i landet.
The main goals of this call are contributing to Europeana (the European
digital library) and maximizing the impact of European research results.
The specific objectives are:
* Developing services to improve the usability of Europeana
* Aggregating content for Europeana
* Digitising content for Europeana
* Open access to scientific information
* Use of heritage content for education

The ICT PSP aims to stimulate innovation and competitiveness and
accelerate the
development of a sustainable, competitive, innovative and inclusive
information society. It
supports activities to accelerate innovation and implementation of ICT
based services and
systems through the wider uptake and best use of ICT and the
exploitation of digital content
by citizens, governments and businesses.

The Community programme eContentplus12 already funded a number of
projects in support
of the European Digital Library initiative and the Communication on
scientific information
between 2005 and 2008. The present work programme will continue to
support its further
development, i.e. bringing in more content from different types of
cultural organisations,
work on interoperability and improving the service.
Total funding available for this theme is 25 M€ and it is intended to
fund actions under the
five objectives listed below.

The Digital Libraries is a flagship initiative of i2010 presenting the
European strategy for
digitisation, online accessibility and digital preservation, with a
focus on cultural heritage,
as well as for improving access to scientific publications and data.
