Undersökningen visar vad amerikanska forskare och bibliotekarier anser 
vara viktigt och mindre viktigt.

Att spå om framtiden är alltid svårt. Möjligen kan vi försöka se trender.

Exempelvis tror varken forskare eller bibliotekarier att e-böcker kommer 
att revolutionera biblioteken.
I tre år har jag förvärvat och katalogiserat fria e-böcker. Trots 
undersökningen är jag övertygad om att
e-böcker är ett utomordentligt värdefullt komplement till p-böcker. I 
vissa fall kan dom till och med ersätta
p-böcker, exempelvis referensmaterial, rapportserier, offentligt tryck, 
svårtåtkomligt källmaterial och sällsynta
äldre böcker som kursböcker för studenter.

Jag hoppas inte utan vet att bibliotek funnits i tusentals år och kommer 
även att finnas om tusen år, inte som
museer utan som levande källor för kunskap.
