I wonder whether I could ask you to circulate details of this post to
colleagues in Sweden who may be interested - is there a mailing list that
you could use? (Perhaps you could copy the message to me).

This is regarded as a key appointment by the University, and applications
will be welcomed from staff who are based outside of the UK. Details are on
the Web address given below - note the closing date of 17 June 2003.

Sheffield Hallam University

Vision. Direction Inspiration.

Director of the Learning Centre

Internationally recognised. Award winning. A centre of excellence. The
achievements of our acclaimed Learning Centre could be yours if you join us
in this key role.

Based in the innovative Adsetts Centre, you will lead a department of 200
staff providing integrated library services, user computing, multimedia
production and support for educational innovation and research. As
Director, we will look to you to provide the strategic vision needed to
develop and maintain our high profile with national and international
professional and academic networks.

Here you will devise financial plans and targets for the Centre, and also
ensure the development of good working relationships with all our
Faculties, with the ultimate aim of improving the standards of delivery,
and creating a culture that encourages risk and experimentation.

Consequently we're looking for a dynamic, visionary individual with a
proven track record in an academic services environment in higher
education. Ideally with a higher degree or professional qualification, you
will be an excellent communicator with a natural ability to influence and
engage people at all levels. Your sound management skills and commercial
acumen will also be supported by a strong drive to succeed.

For an informal discussion please contact Professor Philip Garrahan,
Pro Vice Chancellor, Academic Development on + 44 114 225 2043.

For further information and details of how to apply visit our website at
http://hr.shu.ac.uk/lcjob or telephone + 44 114 225 3950. Please quote
reference 554/02.

Closing date 17 June 2003.
