NORDINFO's 25th Anniversary

NORDINFO celebrated its 25th Anniversary with a Nordic Forum for
Information Policy under the powerful theme "Content is King". The forum
was held in Espoo, Finland with participants from all the Nordic
countries, Estonia, USA and Canada.

The international speakers included the president of IFLA, Mme Christine
Deschamps; Mr. Bernhard Smith, Head of Unit, Cultural Heritage
Applications, The European Commission; Mrs. Joanne Curry, Chief Execute
Officer, TeleLearning Solutions, Canada and Mrs. Patricia Senn Breivik,
Chair, National Forum on Information Literacy, Califonia, USA.

The Nordic Forum for Information Policy emphasised three important

The Virtual University
Citizens Right to Information

The papers will be published in NORDINFO-Nytt 2001:4.

New Nordic Initiative on Information Literacy

In connection with the conference, a new brainstorming group with
participants from all the Nordic countries was invited by NORDINFO to
discuss ideas for Nordic initiatives within the area of Information
Literacy. The group have named themselves the NORDINFOLIT Group. The
outcome of this brainstorming session was very promising. Several
projects were discussed and the NORDINFOLIT Group decided to seek funds
from NORDINFO to organise a Nordic Summer School in 2002 on Information
Literacy hosted by the Royal School of Library and Information Science
in Copenhagen. For further information on the NORDINFOLIT Group, please
