Som de flesta förmodligen känner till hålls årets IFLA konferens i
Boston i USA. Programmet är som vanligt digert och jag vill därför passa
på att flagga för ett par arrangemang som anordnas av Sektionen för
dokumentleverans och fjärrlån.

Måndagen den 20 augusti klockan 11:00 - 13:30
"End user Involvement in Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery"

Torsdag den 23 augusti klockan 13:30 - 17:30
"The ISO Interlibrary Loan Protocol: Demonstrating Interoperability"

The workshop will begin with a non-technical overview of the
international standard for interlibrary loan communication, the ISO ILL
Protocol. Six vendors with Protocol-compliant systems will demonstrate
the exchange of ILL requests and responses to those requests. The
messages will highlight messages used by the borrower (requester) as
well as the lender (supplier). The workshop has been designed to provide
time for participants to talk to vendors about their ILL products.

Workshopen hålls på Boston Public Library och kräver förregistrering som

Sektionen för dokumentleverans och fjärrlån fungerar också som
"hemsektion" för två s.k. diskussionsgrupper.
Den ena "Discussion Group on Repository and Storage Libraries" har sitt
program på söndagen den 19 augusti
klockan 8:30-10:20.
This discussion group explores the role of repository libraries in
providing access to materials held in centralized storage facilities
serving specialized or cooperative library needs. Participants will
discuss topics including the decision-making that leads to transfer to
remote storage, the development of robotic on-demand scanning systems
for delivering remotely held materials, and case studies of successful
centralized repository libraries.

Den andra diskussionsgruppen har från och med detta år förvandlats till
en självständig sektion - Section on Reference Work - under ledning av
vår energiska kollega Annsofie Oscarsson från Umeå
universitetsbibliotek.
Årets program heter "How is virtual reference different from
face-to-face reference? Guidelines and new competencies for reference
services to the remote user" och det äger rum på måndagen den 20 augusti
klockan 8:30-11:00.

De enskilda uppsatserna och inläggen finns i många fall färdiga att läsa
från IFLA's hemsida.
