.. jag vill göra er uppmärksamma på att det anordnas ett seminarium i
Augusti i Lappenranta i sydöstra Finland (ett par timmar med tåg från
Helsingfors), om mångkulturella biblioteksfrågor, med speciellt fokus på
samverkansmöjligheter mellan länder och mellan folkgrupper. Det arrangeras
omedelbart före IFLA-kongressen i Helsingfors, så att man kan samordna
sina besök. Men självklart kan man med fördel åka endast till Lappenranta

Vi har nyligen gått ut med Call for Papers och det är 2 månader tills
förslag från talare (i form av abstracts) ska var inlämnade. Ta en titt på
meddelandet nedan - och välkommen med bidrag!

IFLA Library Services to Multicultural Populations Section 

is pleased to invite speakers to submit and present papers for a Satellite
Conference in conjunction with the IFLA World Library and Information
Congress 2012

Transcending Boundaries to Increase Cultural 
Understanding between Countries

8-9 August 2012

Lappeenranta City Hall, Lappeenranta, Finland

Scope/Objectives of the Conference
 Issues on how to transcend boundaries between nations but also between  

Papers can cover a wide range of related areas including:
- Presentation of different projects with a multicultural perspective,
  several countries. 
- Twin library activities between libraries from different parts of the
- Indigenous matters as means to cooperate with other peoples of the globe.
- Recruitment of multicultural staff in libraries and elsewhere as a
method to
  lessen obstacles and increase cooperation in the local community 
- Programming and other activities in the library to promote increased
  standing between different groups of visitors.
Proposals should be in English and submitted by email to:

and include:
*Title of the paper
*Abstract of approximately 500 words, summarising the paper
*3-6 keywords
*Speaker's name, professional affiliation, postal address, email address
 a brief biographical note.
	Proposals will be reviewed by the Programme Committee of the Library
Services to Multicultural Populations Section. 

	Conference presentations will be made in English. They will be no longer
than 20-25 minutes with some extra time för discussion at the end of the

Please note
All expenses, including registration for the conference, travel,
accommodation etc are the responsibility of the authors/presenters. No
financial support can be provided by IFLA, but a special invitation can be
issued to the speakers.

All proposals must be in before 15 March 2012

All proposers are warmly welcome to submit a paper about the transcending
