Vidarebefodrar här ett meddelande från ARL (USA) angående det stora
tjänstekvalitetsprojekt LibQUAL+ de driver och som nu även ska sjösättas
i Europa.

First International LibQUAL+(TM) Workshop to be Held in the United Kingdom

Washington, D.C. The first international training workshop for
LibQUAL+(TM) participants will take place on January 7-8, 2003, in
Bristol, England. This workshop is designed specifically for SCONUL
(Standing Conference of National and University Libraries) participants,
interested European libraries, and other international participants. It
is a required workshop for those libraries participating in the 2003
LibQUAL+(TM) survey.

The 2003 LibQUAL+(TM) survey implementation will mark the first year of
participation by institutions from outside North America, including
several member institutions from the U.K. s SCONUL organization. The
two-day program will take place at Bolland Library on the University of
the West of England s Frenchay campus. For more information about this
international workshop, or to register, visit the following Web site:

LibQUAL+(TM) is a research and development project started in 1999 by
ARL in collaboration with Texas A&M University. From 2000-2003 the
project is supported in part by a grant from the U.S. Department of
Education s Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education (FIPSE).
The Web-based survey instrument uses 25 core questions to measure
library users minimum, perceived, and desired levels of service quality
in four key dimensions: Access to Information, Affect of Service,
Library as Place, and Personal Control. More than 78,000 users at 164
institutions throughout North America completed the 2002 LibQUAL+(TM)
survey. Information on the LibQUAL+(TM) project is available online at
<http://www.libqual.org/>.

The Association of Research Libraries (ARL) is a not-for-profit
membership organization comprising the leading research libraries in
North America. Its mission is to shape and influence forces affecting
the future of research libraries in the process of scholarly
communication. ARL programs and services promote equitable access to and
effective use of recorded knowledge in support of teaching, research,
scholarship, and community service. The Association articulates the
concerns of research libraries and their institutions, forges
coalitions, influences information policy development, and supports
innovation and improvements in research library operations.
