The 11th Nordic Conference on Information and Documentation NORD I&D
will be held in Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland, May 30–June 1, 2001.

The theme of the conference is Spring for Information, based on the fact
that Spring is the season where everything is beginning to bloom, as is
the current state of information science. In other words the conference
centers upon management of information, data and knowledge in an
information technology-driven society and also addresses the role of
information professionals, the skills required and future trends in
information management.

The conference will include presentations by invited keynote speakers
and contributed papers. Proposed topics include but are not limited to:
The Internet: WWW, Intranet, E-commerce, Tech-nology, Virtual
collection, Interface, Information portals.
Content Management: Electronic records, Meta-data, Documents, Knowledge
management, XML.
Leadership and Management: Challenges in changing times, Competence.
Access to Information: Cost, Control, Ownership, Barriers, Channels,
Consortia.
Ethics: Privacy, User profiles, Artificial agents, Logging modules,
Cookies, Copyright, Intellectual property.
Learning and Education: Distance learning, Continuing education.
Electronic books, Web based reference services.

The conference is held every third year and is one of the most important
Nordic venues on information and documentation. It concentrates on the
latest methods, development and technology in the field of information
science.

The conference language is English, thus enabling information
professionals from outside the Nordic countries to participate.

The conference will be divided into several sections: lectures,
workshops, panels, a vendor exhibition and visits.

Paper Submission:
Authors are invited and encouraged to submit abstracts for papers on
topics of relevance to the programme committee organizing the Nord I&D
2001 Conference. Papers will be reviewed and selected for presentation
based on their relevance and quality. Proposals should be submitted by
October 15 2000.

submission form which can be found on the conference website and send it
together with an abstract of up to 300 words to:
