I can briefly say that it is so far the only existing Nordic union
Up to fairly recently the serials without ISSN were not part of the NOSP
Web database, but included in the CD-ROM (CDNOSP). When the CD-ROM
production ceased this summer, a decision was made to include the
without ISSN in NOSP on Web. This facility has now been introduced. One
now choose to search the database containing serials with ISSN only or
a search of serials with or without ISSN in one operation.
The rationale for this new feature is of course that serials without
are just as important in ILL work. It is worth mentioning that this
has also more than doubled the number of periodicals available in NOSP
Web - from 160 000 to some 350 000 serials.
I am also happy to report that both Estonia and Latvia have signed a
contract to join NOSP. Hopefully Lithuania will join too. The name has
therefore been changed to Nordic/Baltic Union Catalogue of Serials. The
Baltic States have very interesting collections that evidently will
NOSP is freely available for searching. There is, however, a charging
for transferring orders. The annual fee for ordering up to 100 copies is
500. An additional NOK 5 is charged for every order exceeding this
The upper level of payment is NOK 15.000.
